Construction sites across north-western Sydney can expect a visit from SafeWork聽Inspectors this week who will be targeting unsafe working systems across all building聽trades.

A building company has been fined $90,000 after a worker聽suffered a fatal fall from scaffolding on a Lidcombe construction site.聽

The scaffolding he fell through was not secured and as a result, the worker fell one floor聽and hit his head on a concrete balcony.

Announcing a safety compliance blitz across building sites this week, Better Regulation聽Minister Kevin Anderson said 鈥渋ncidents like this should not happen. Everyone deserves聽to return home to their family at the end of the working day鈥 he said.

Members are reminded that the Association鈥檚 Safety Department has a聽suite of Safety Management Systems available as it is a legal requirement in NSW that聽all contracted work in excess of $250,000 cannot be performed without a Safety聽Management System in聽place.
