The demolition of the original stadium and contouring of the land resulted in more than 90 per cent of the construction waste being diverted from landfill.ÌýAustralian steel from South Australia was used for the construction, and fabricated by several local Western Sydney businesses.ÌýÌýThe steel is exposed alongside concrete and celebrated in its natural form.ÌýÌýThe roof of the new stadium contains 309 solar panels, generating 100kW of electricity for use in the stadium.ÌýÌýThe roof is also used to collect rainwater into aÌý260 kilo-litre storage tank for use in toilet flushing and landscaping.ÌýÌýThe project has reduced embodied carbon by 30 per cent, reduced energy by 15 per cent from baseline, and reduced potable water byÌý25 per cent, for improved sustainability.
