MEDIA RELEASE:聽 Master Builders welcomes the Government鈥檚 move to enact much needed reform to the state鈥檚 planning system.
Incoming Executive Director Matthew Pollock said, 鈥淔or too long the system has been sweating the small stuff, we need the system to encourage investment into sensible new housing developments.
鈥淗ousing is unaffordable for too many people. A young family on an average income shouldn鈥檛 have to commute for hours to and from work.
鈥淪lashing planning red tape will speed up housing supply. Planning reform is one of the strongest levers that the government can pull and builders will applaud them for doing so.
鈥淢ore standardising conditions across local councils reduces complexity and will speed up construction.
鈥淭he Government deserves credit for taking on a system where unconstrained rules and regulations, unnecessary inconsistencies and duplication is holding builders back from getting on with tackling the housing crisis.鈥
